I’m Mary. Not Mary Catherine, Mary Kate, Mary Nell, Mary Kay. Nope. I’m just plain Mary.

The year I was born, great excitement bubbled for the upcoming Marian year, that is, for the non-Catholic among us, a year dedicated to Mother Mary. As a result, almost every little girl was called Mary-something. But, I resisted, as I do, insisting I wanted to be “just plain Mary!”
